The Saturn Systems Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to outstanding graduating seniors from high schools in northeast Minnesota or northwest Wisconsin who are committed to pursuing a degree in computer science at the University of Minnesota Duluth.
Applicants must demonstrate strong academic performance, high personal character and a passion for computer science. Graduating seniors must have a GPA of at least 3.0 and come from schools in the following counties: Aitkin, Carlton, Cass, Cook, Crow Wing, Hubbard, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, Morrison, Pine, St. Louis, Todd or Wadena in Minnesota, or Ashland, Bayfield, Douglas, Iron or Price in Wisconsin.
Students must provide a transcript (including standardized test scores), recommendations and a brief essay on the theme, “Why I want to become a computer scientist.” The scholarship is renewable for students who maintain a GPA of at least 3.0.
Saturn Systems Inc. is a Duluth-based software development firm committed to the growth and promotion of computer science in its hometown. Through this award, Saturn Systems hopes to encourage more young programmers to see the Twin Ports as a technology center.
