Mike Colalillo Medal of Honor Scholarship

The Mike Colalillo Medal of Honor Scholarship helps a student who is enrolled or will be enrolled in a higher education institution in St. Louis County, Minnesota, or a St. Louis County resident who is or will be enrolled in a higher education institution outside of the county. The scholarship provides greater visibility and support for the St. Louis County Historical Society and its Veteran’s Memorial Hall program.

Applicants can complete the application form, available here, which calls for a four- to 10-page research paper on a topic relevant to veterans of St. Louis County.

Mike Colalillo was Minnesota’s last known surviving World War II Medal of Honor recipient. He was born and raised in St. Louis County. He dropped out of school when his mother died so he could help support the family. Following the war, he raised three children in Duluth. Learn more about his military service.
