The Bernard B. Brusin and Mary L. Brusin Scholarship Fund provides renewable scholarships to Jewish and Roman Catholic students for college or vocational training.
Applicants must be graduating seniors who are residents of St. Louis County, have a family adjusted gross income of less than $75,000, have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 or higher and prescribe to either the Jewish or Roman Catholic faiths. Generally, awards are divided into spring and fall installments and are renewable for four years, assuming proper academic progress (GPA of 2.5 or greater).
The Bernard and Mary Brusin Scholarship was established in 1987 as a memorial to the Brusins, longtime Duluth residents. They recognized the importance of higher education and had a strong commitment to provide financial assistance to those in need. Respective of their faiths, the couple designated that the scholarship go to Jewish and Roman Catholic students.
