Nonprofits at Noon Brings Professional Connection

Nonprofits at Noon Brings Professional Connection

Register for the inaugural nonprofit event on May 1, 2024, in Duluth

DULUTH—The Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation and Minnesota Council of Nonprofits invite you to connect with area nonprofit colleagues at noon on Wednesday, May 1, for a FREE professional development opportunity at the Lyric Conference Center in Duluth. Lunch is on us. Learning is for everyone.

Nonprofits at Noon is an inaugural event and the start of a new leadership development series for nonprofit leaders. Look for more lunch gatherings and other social opportunities in the coming months. We envision regular convenings during which we can connect with and learn from each other.

Our first Nonprofits at Noon session is titled: “Be the Board people actually want to join and love to be part of.” Chris Davila, an independent consultant, and certified trainer, will guide us through activities and discussions designed to challenge us to be people and organizations that engage and welcome new board members, with a particular focus on those who may not come from the traditional list of potential board members. Chris will offer insights and tools to help us reflect, retool, and be better and stronger in our work and impact.

We will take up these questions:

  • How can we ensure these new board members are welcomed into our local nonprofit sector?
  • What work do we need to do to be welcoming, accessible, and meaningful places for new board members?
  • How can we give new folks what they need to succeed on our boards?
  • How do we engage new people (and existing people) to use their skills, make sure their voices are heard, and set them up for success in the supportive and governing roles they can play in our organizations?
  • What happens if we don’t do this work?

We know that nonprofit leaders want to gather, share experiences, and learn with and from each other. We are striking a balance between valuable content and time to network/talk and learn from each other. Join us as we learn together and build a cohort focused on being effective stewards of our community.

REGISTRATION NOTE: You will register two people on one ticket and attend together. One must be a nonprofit Executive Director/President/CEO and the other must be a board member of your organization. Shared knowledge is key.
