Local Organizations Receive more than $214,000 in Grant Support

DULUTH—Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation announced recipients of 43 grants totaling more than $214,000 to organizations contributing to the well-being of communities throughout northeast Minnesota, northwest Wisconsin and the seven sovereign tribal nations in the region.

The grants support a diverse range of fields, including social services, the arts, environmental education, and community development. A full list of proposals receiving grant funding is posted on our website. Examples include:

  • “Full Range: The Iron Range Project” – Mixed Blood Theatre Company
  • “Empowering Thriving Communities & Entrepreneurs” – Entrepreneur Fund
  • “Young Mothers Program” – YWCA of Duluth
  • “Behavioral Health Program” – Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northland
  • “Wetland Forest Habitat Restoration” – Friends of North Pikes Creek Wetlands
  • “New LGBTQ+ Resource Center” – PFLAG Washburn

 

“There were many more excellent requests, exceeding the funding available and making the decision-making very difficult,” said Community Impact Director, Michelle Morris. “Amidst the many significant challenges our communities face, recognizing the creative vision and leadership from the staff in our nonprofit organizations gives me great hope.”

The grants cover a broad spectrum of needs, from supporting environmental education to innovative programs that address hunger and mental health. The diverse projects underscore the commitment of the Community Foundation to addressing the unique challenges and opportunities present in our communities.
