Disaster Relief Fund Grants $10,000 to Support Immediate Flood Relief
The grant to the United Way of Northeastern Minnesota will addresses urgent needs, minimize further damage, and accelerate the recovery process, ensuring that affected individuals and communities receive timely assistance when they need it most.
DULUTH – The Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation announced this morning that $10,000 from the Disaster Relief Fund has been granted to the United Way of Northeastern Minnesota. The grant will support immediate flood response and recovery efforts in our community, including the coordination of volunteers who are essential to these efforts.
“Our community has been deeply affected by the recent severe flooding, and we are committed to providing the necessary support for recovery,” said Shaun Floerke, President and CEO of the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation. “The United Way of Northeastern Minnesota has the expertise and network to effectively deploy these funds to make a significant impact in the areas most in immediate need.”
The grant will be utilized for various critical activities, including:
- Volunteer Coordination: Organizing and managing volunteers to assist in recovery efforts.
- Immediate Response: Addressing urgent needs in affected areas.
- Community Support: Providing and connecting resources and support to families and individuals impacted by the flooding.
The United Way of Northeastern Minnesota has a proven track record of effectively mobilizing resources and providing essential services during times of crisis. With this grant, they are well-positioned to make a swift and meaningful impact.

This is only the first grant made from the Disaster Relief Fund, with more anticipated as needs become clearer in the coming days and weeks. Support for this grant comes from PPREP Community Foundation Disaster Response Fund, a project of The Funders Network.
