Animal Allies
Animal Allies Humane Society is a Duluth-based organization committed to ensuring a lifetime of loving care for every pet by reducing overpopulation, increasing adoption, and fostering humane values. The organization has three major programs: • The Muriel Whiteside Animal Shelter which provides lifesaving care and loving adoptive homes for more than 2000 homeless animals per year; • Northland Spay/Neuter – a partnership with independent medical practice, Northland Spay/Neuter Clinic PLLC, which annually spays and neuters more than 6500 pets from shelters and low-income households; and • Humane education which teaches more than 6000 young people per year about the importance of kindness, responsibility, and respect to people and pets. Cumulatively, these services have: • Eliminated euthanasia of healthy animals at Duluth shelters – a first for a major Minnesota city. • Reduced annual shelter euthanasia in northeastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin by more than 1100 animals since 2005.

Young Leaders Fund
The mission of the Young Leaders Fund is to support organizations that give young adults (ages 21-35) in Duluth and Superior a chance to lead or improve the quality of life for young adults. Priority is given to projects that provide financial assistance for leadership skill development, civic engagement, special events, entrepreneurship, technology, public relations, college and university community connections and awareness of career and economic opportunities. Grants range from $500 to $2,000 but special situations may allow for a larger grant to be awarded.
