School District of Bayfield
$3000 for Birth to Five Literacy Program

This program addresses the quality of life in economically challenged communities by addressing the well documented recurrent cycle of low literacy skills=poverty=low quality of life. Low literacy skills have a huge impact on the community and its ability to provide a quality life for its residents.

The Apostle Islands Area Community Fund, an affiliate fund of the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation, was created in 2000 to serve as a resource for the Bayfield – Madeline Island – Red Cliff area, and as an opportunity for individuals to support the well-being of the region.

Through its advisory board of community leaders, the Fund

  • attracts and administers a growing endowment for our area’s future
  • provides quality service and resources for donors with varied philanthropic interests
  • identifies and effectively responds to changing community needs through strategic grant-making

Each year, the Apostle Islands Community Fund Advisory Board distributes grants to non-profits in the region. Interested in applying for a grant from the Apostle Islands Area Community Fund? Read the guidelines here.
